SASA Works extended and remodelled this Edwardian Home in South London to create a new kitchen and living room around the courtyard garden. A deliberate play to embed the house’s original feature into the new space has resulted in a harmonious union between the different spaces: traditional and modern, indoor and outdoor, cooking and living.
Natural light was important in creating this unique relaxation area that includes bespoke built-in furniture to maximise the space. In designing the rooflights, size was of particular importance to ensure they fit within the structural rafters that created the geometric roof shape. We provided a mix of bespoke and standard rooflights in our contemporary Neo® style. This included a bespoke square rooflight design and a bespoke trapezoidal rooflight. Along with detailed technical drawings, we also supported the unique installation detailing into the roof – constructed of plywood with a rubber lining to finish.
This project gallery highlights the careful interplay of light, geometry and bespoke detailing that transforms Shooters Hill into a warm and connected living environment. Explore how custom rooflight configurations enhance both the architecture and the lived experience of the space.
Shooters Hill showcases SASA Works’ extension and remodelling of an Edwardian home, designed to create a flowing kitchen and living space centred around the courtyard garden. By retaining and reinterpreting original features, the design achieves a seamless connection between the traditional and the contemporary, the interior and exterior, and the functional and the social aspects of the home.
Natural light was a defining factor in shaping this relaxation area. To meet the geometric roof constraints, rooflight sizing was carefully coordinated with the existing rafters. The Rooflight Co supplied both bespoke and standard Neo rooflights, including a bespoke square unit and a bespoke trapezoidal unit. Detailed technical drawings were provided, along with support for the unique installation detailing into the plywood-and-rubber roof structure.
The result is a beautifully lit, thoughtfully crafted space that celebrates its heritage while embracing modern living, enhanced by the clean lines and contemporary styling of the Neo Rooflights.
