Case Study - The Keep
The state-of-the-art storage facility in Brighton, housing over six miles of archives and resources dating back 900 years, achieves a BREEAM Excellence Certification through its integration of highly efficient systems.
The Rooflight Co worked closely with main contractor, Kier, to design and supply ten Secured by Design Rooflights, specified to LPS 1175 SR2.
A key requirement of the design was to ensure the kerb upstand was in line with the requirements for SR2 certification.
Our technical team also worked closely with the architects to ensure careful placement of insulation within the kerb structure to mitigate cold bridging whilst not compromising on the quality of the internal finish.
A key challenge for the architects was ensuring the security of the valuable content within the building while maintaining the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the structure. The Rooflight Co was chosen for their unique ability to provide Secured by Design (SBD) rooflights, essential for meeting the project’s high-security requirements.
Each rooflight has a fadeguard glazing specification to protect documents and furnishings which may be damaged from ultraviolet light.
Ten SBD rooflights, each measuring 1225mm x 1225mm and finished in jet black, were installed.
