Nestled into the dunes and with impressive views across the beach and the English Channel, Seabreeze is a strikingly minimalistic beach house on Camber Sands in East Sussex designed by RX Architects.
Due to high exposure to the elements, the design needed to be robust whilst delivering a sense of fun and uniqueness. A key driver behind the design concept was to create a simple singular form with minimal junctions and ledges for sand to build up and deteriorate the building. Using the Neo® Rooflight, with its undeniably elegant finish, the architect was able to create a flush external façade that suited both the design strategy and the environment.
The additional height and light created by our Neo Rooflights helped to welcome the beachfront into the home, making it the perfect summer getaway.
Seabreeze won a South East RIBA Regional Award 2022 and was longlisted in the rural house category of Dezeen Awards 2022.

Seabreeze is nestled within the dunes of Camber Sands, offering uninterrupted views across the beach and the English Channel. Designed by RX Architects, the property embraces a minimalistic approach that complements the raw beauty of the coastal environment.
With the site exposed to harsh coastal conditions, the building demanded a resilient structure that could withstand wind, salt and shifting sands. The design concept focused on creating a singular sculptural form with minimal ledges and junctions, ensuring sand would not accumulate and cause deterioration.
The Neo Rooflight played a central role in realising this vision. Its refined, elegant appearance allowed the rooflights to sit flush within the façade, preserving the uninterrupted external form while enhancing performance in the demanding environment.
Internally, the Neo Rooflights introduce generous height and abundant natural light, framing views of the shoreline and drawing the beachfront directly into the living space. This creates a bright, uplifting interior that epitomises the essence of a coastal retreat.
Seabreeze’s outstanding design was recognised with a South East RIBA Regional Award 2022 and a place on the longlist for the Dezeen Awards 2022 (Rural House category). The project exemplifies how innovative detailing, considered material selection and a clear architectural vision can create a home that is both resilient and deeply connected to its dramatic landscape.
